Welcome to the home page of the Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding Neighbourhood Wardens.

The Neighbourhood Warden scheme was launched in the Parishes of Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding in 2004.

The aims of the Wardens are to:

  • Reduce crime and the fear of crime.
  • Deter anti-social behaviour.
  • Care for the physical appearance and management of the Parishes.
  • Foster social inclusion and community development.

Wardens can:

  • Provide a reassuring uniformed patrolling presence.teenage.bmp
  • Respond to minor incidents and anti-social behaviour.
  • Confiscate alcohol from persons aged under 18.
  • Confiscate tabacco from persons aged under 18.
  • Pass information, including names and addresses, to the police.
  • Support and encourage diversionary activities for young people.
  • Support the community by offering assistance to elderly, vulnerable and isolated members.
  • Help to preserve the environment by reporting incidents such as fly tipping, dog fouling and abandoned vehicles.
  • Act as professional witnesses.
  • Issue fixed penalty notices for people caught littering (including cigarette butts), leaving their dog mess behind or cycling on a pavement.
  • Offer advice on crime prevention and fire safety in the home.
  • Ensure that Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding are benefiting from the full range of services and provisions from both local and national government agendas.

Wardens can not:
